🌸 Now Hiring: Floral Designer
$18–$22/hour | 15–30 hours/week | Thursday–Sunday availability required

Black Eyed Susan’s is a fast-growing flower shop in the heart of Barnegat, NJ. We’re not just about arranging flowers—we’re about creating moments, celebrating stories, and making people feel something special through every stem. As a Floral Designer on our team, you’ll play a key role in helping us bring that vision to life.
This is more than a production role—we’re looking for someone who blends artistic talent with a strong understanding of floral mechanics, can keep up in a fast-paced environment, and brings a kind, can-do attitude to everything they do. If you’re passionate about creating both stunning wedding/event florals and meaningful sympathy arrangements, we’d love to meet you.
What You’ll Do
Design and execute floral arrangements for weddings, events, and funerals, working from mood boards, client notes, and creative briefs
Create daily and weekly arrangements for walk-ins and delivery, ranging from classic vase arrangements to garden-style bouquets
Process flower shipments with care, ensuring blooms are properly hydrated and stored
Maintain floral tools, supplies, and workstations for efficiency and cleanliness
Help train and mentor junior staff or assistants during busy seasons
Collaborate on design plans, mockups, and sample arrangements for clients
Assist with deliveries, installations, or on-site event floral setup
Communicate with clients or event teams if needed to clarify vision or logistics
What We’re Looking For
2+ years of floral design experience—with demonstrated work in weddings and sympathy pieces
Comfortable working with a wide range of styles
Strong knowledge of flower types, seasonal availability, and proper care/handling
Ability to manage time well and prioritize under pressure during busy weekends
Kind, collaborative attitude—we pride ourselves on being thoughtful and unpretentious
Must be available Thursday through Sunday
Able to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for long periods

What You’ll Do
Be the first friendly face for customers walking through the door
Answer phones, assist walk-ins, and help with customer orders
Maintain a clean, inviting retail space (sweeping, tidying, cleaning surfaces/windows)
Water and care for plants and flowers inside and out
Process flowers as needed (fresh cuts, water changes, cleaning leaves, removing old stems)
Support floral designers by organizing supplies, unpacking vases, and condensing buckets
Take out trash, clean buckets, and maintain workspaces in the back of house
What We’re Looking For
Someone who prioritizes customer experience and enjoys helping others
A self-starter who takes initiative and stays on top of daily shop tasks
Comfortable working with plants and flowers (training provided!)
Reliable and detail-oriented—no job is too small or too routine
Weekend availability required, 15–30 hours per week
Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and be on your feet most of the shift
